Academic Outcomes & Assessment Director

Before coming to BYU-Idaho in 2003, Brother Alan Dutson worked for Motorola as an engineer in Ft. Worth Texas. His responsibilities here on campus are divided between teaching in the Mechanical Engineering department and filling an administrative role as the Director of Academic Outcomes and Assessment where he serves as an Accreditation Liaison Officer.

Brother Dutson served a mission in the Brazil Rio de Janeiro mission.  He earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree from Brigham Young University in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, also in Mechanical Engineering.

Brother Dutson and his wife, Joanna, are the parents of 6 sons and 1 daughter.  In addition to his responsibilities at work and home, Brother Dutson currently serves as the bishop of his ward.
