Brett Crandall was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He served a Spanish-speaking mission in Southern California. In 2009, Brett graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from BYU. He then worked for six years as a TV news reporter and weather forecaster in both Idaho and Texas. While working in the news business, Brett became a certified meteorologist. He then came to work at BYU-Idaho in 2015.

In his current role as University Public Affairs Director, Brett works with local community leaders while also overseeing institutional events and official university communications. Brett currently serves in the church as the Rexburg area communication director and as a ward gospel doctrine teacher. 

Brett says the hardest and most exciting thing he has ever done is ongoing: raising four children, ages 2–10. He loves traveling with his wife and family. His favorite place he has ever vacationed is Hawaii where he met his wife, Heather.
