Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Biography:

Before his call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in October 2015, Elder Dale G. Renlund had served as a General Authority Seventy since April 2009. 

Elder Renlund earned B.A. and M.D. degrees from the University of Utah, and received further medical and research training at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was a professor of medicine at the University of Utah, and the Medical Director of the Utah Transplantation Affiliated Hospitals Cardiac Transplant Program.  

Elder Renlund has served in numerous church callings including full-time missionary in Sweden, bishop, stake president, and Area Seventy.  

Born in Salt Lake City in November 1952, he married Ruth Lybbert in 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple. 

Sister Renlund received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Utah, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. She practiced law at the Utah Attorney General’s office, and later joined a private firm where she practiced plaintiff’s civil litigation for twenty years.  She has served in the Church as a gospel doctrine teacher, young women president, and relief society president. 

Elder and Sister Renlund are the parents of one daughter.
