Elder Lynn A. Mickelsen

Emeritus First Quorum of the Seventy

Lynn Alvin Mickelsen has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1990.

Mickelsen was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on July 21, 1935. As a young man, he was a missionary in the Church's Central AmericanMission when it spanned from Guatemala to Panama.

Mickelsen studied at Ricks College and Brigham Young University. He graduated from BYU in 1966 with a degree in agricultural economics. After this, Mickelsen operated a potato farm in Idaho and also was involved in shipping potatoes.

Mickelsen has served as a bishop, stake president, regional representative, and as president of the Colombia Cali Mission. In 1990, he became a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. At the time of his call, he was serving as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple, assigned to work in Spanish. In 1993, Mickelsen was transferred to the First Quorum of the Seventy.

Beginning in 2004, Mickelsen worked with Jay E. Jensen and Enrique Resek in supervising the preparation and publication of an LDS edition of the Bible in Spanish, using as their base text the Reina-Valera Translation of the Bible.

Elder Mickelsen married Jeanine Andersen in the Idaho Falls Idaho temple on June 17, 1960.  They have nine children.
