Elder Ronald A. Rasband

Quorum of the Twelve Apostles


Elder Ronald A. Rasband was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 3, 2015. At the time of his call, he was the senior president of the Presidency of the Seventy and had been a member of the Seventy since 2000.

Elder Rasband attended the University of Utah. In 1976, he joined Huntsman Container Company as a sales representative and was eventually appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Huntsman Chemical Corporation, also serving on its Board of Directors. He left the company in 1996 to preside over the New York, New York North Mission.

Elder Rasband has held numerous Church callings including full-time missionary in the Eastern States Mission from 1970 to 1972, Temple Square missionary guide, bishop, and member of the Church’s Sesquicentennial Committee.

Elder Rasband was born in Salt Lake City in 1951. Upon returning home from his mission, he met Melanie Twitchell at the University of Utah. They were married a year later.

Sister Rasband was born in El Paso, Texas and grew up all over the United States. She has served in numerous Church callings and community programs. Sister Rasband has been blessed with creative and artistic talents that have brought her joy in serving her family and while engaging in her Church service. She and Elder Rasband are the parents of four daughters and one son, and they have 28 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
